Tuesday Class

Today in science we had our Great lakes ecology test retake. Students who decided they didn't need a retake had a chance to watch a movie on rainforest ecology. The learning target was for students to identify and explain three relationship examples between plants and animals.

Tuesday Class

Today we will be offering retakes for the Unit Test and Quizzes.

We invite anyone who would like to use the audio files of the test.  There are two parts.

Great Lakes Ecology Part One

Great Lakes Ecology Part Two

Rainforest Web Quest for Mr. Wandel's Monday Class

Learning Target:  I can describe the Rainforest Ecosystem and give examples of biotic factors that dwell in this biome.

Complete the Rainforest Webquest

1.  Read the Main Page of the Webquest that explains background information about the rainforest ecosystem.  This page also shows examples of the artist Henri Rousseau.  Rousseau is known for a unique style of nature art.

2.  Research different components of the ecosystem.  You may use the links provided or conduct your own research.

The Rainforest Biome is a great resource if you need a more expansive link.

3.   Create your own drawing in the style of Henri Rousseau.  You may use colored pencils and crayons from the bins.  You may also use pencil or pen to create a sketch.   Feel free to display your work in the hallway on the bulletin boards!

4.  If you finish early explore the links about rainforests or prepare for the TEST RETAKE on Tuesday.

Thursday Class

Today in science we continued our look at water pollution in the Great Lakes by using Lake Erie as an example. We did three things:
1. Watched a short movie on the Lake Macatawa watershed. How we impact the water quality here in Holland!
2. Did part "b" of our Lake Erie reading activity. This includes making a Flow Chart. Please click here to access a flow chart making program.
3. Students completed a online discussion using google groups to discuss if Lake Erie was dead or not.

Wednesday Class

Today in science we started a look at pollution in the Great Lakes Region. To help us with this, we are looking at Lake Erie. Today we did a reading activity with group discussion on the problems that Lake Erie faced in the 1960's.

Unfortunately, this activity is not available online. Hopefully we can get it online in the next two days.
