Monday and Tuesday Class
On Monday we finished the igneous rock lab that we started Friday. Today we are offering a retake of the ecology test and other quizzes.
Friday, January 15, 2010
Friday Class
Today in science we:
1. Took a quiz on minerals.
2. Introduced Igneous Rocks and started a lab on them. Students did not finish lab. We will finish on Monday.
On a separate note, we will have a test re-take from our Ecology Units sometime next week. This is not a mandatory test...only there for students who want to try for a better grade. I put a copy of the old test on our resource page. You can click here to see it.

Wednesday Class
Today we took our mineral lab quiz. Students were asked to identify certain minerals and answer some questions about them. This grade will not appear on the quiz and test category but rather the lab assessment category.
The only assignment is the online survey that we are asking each student to do.

Tuesday Class (1/12/10)
Today in science we:
1. Took a CPS quiz on Minerals.
2. Went over the answers to the data sheet. Students now have names and information for all 18 minerals.
3. Students had options to finish the last 15 minutes of class doing a variety of short activities to help them with the lab test tomorrow.
Lab Test on Mineral Identification tomorrow: Students should not need to study for this test.

Today in science we:
1. Finished the physical properties of minerals labs from last week.
2. Wrapped up the crossword puzzles.
3. Introduced and filled out the data sheet activity. This can be found on our resource page and can will be needed for this week Wednesdays Mineral Lab Test which students can't study for. This test will be considered part of the lab grade on power school.

Today in science we finished the lab activities on testing for hardness and streak on minerals. There is no homework assigned.
Thursday, January 7, 2010
Thursday Class (1/07/10)
Today in science we worked on two more physical properties of minerals...Hardness and Streak. This lab was not completed today and will be completed tomorrow!
Wednesday, January 6, 2010
Wednesday Class (1/6/10)
Today in science we started our mineral lab. Today the lab was based on two physical properties of minerals...color and luster. For obvious reasons these labs can't be taken home. Students are expected to complete them in the time given in class. If you are sick or gone you can make the labs up anytime during the school day (lunch or exploratory class).
