Wednesday Class (10/28/09)

Today in science we introduced the review sheet for the science test next Wednesday. In addition to the review sheet, we handed out another terminology worksheet to help the students. We also did a CPS quiz today. Check out our resource page on basic ecology for further study information!

Tuesday Class (10/27/09)

Today in science we did two things:
1. We watched a 25 minute video on food webs.
2. We worked on finishing up our food webs, graphs, and other papers from last weeks stations on food webs.

There is currently no homework assigned other than the science collection!

Today in science class we did a whole group power point on the energy associated with food chains and food webs. After the discussion we took a quiz on food webs. The power point will be posted on this blog shortly!

We wrapped up the station work today. On Monday we will have a wrap up session on food webs with a small quiz on food webs to follow.

Thursday Class (10/22/09)

Today in science we continue working on the food web stations. Tomorrow we will finish up this round of stations. There is currently no homework due...with the exception of the science collection.

Tuesday Class (10/20/09)

In science class today we looked at the end of the posted power point on what food webs look like. After that short explanation, we dove into our next set of stations on food webs. The 6 stations are as follows:
1. Hoo eats Hoo food web drawing...this will be available online soon!
2. A continuation of station 1.
3. Computer Station for online viewing of predator/prey examples.
4. Predator/Prey graphing activity (This will be available online soon!)
5. Owl pellet questions and analysis.
6. Finish owl pellet station.

Today in class we did four things:

Thursday Class (10/15/09)

Today in science we did three things:
1. Finished skull identification.
2. Compiled data on each groups owl pellet. This data will be used for a math class graphing activity.
3. Started the actual reconstruction of one of the animals in their pellet.

There is no homework assigned!

Wednesday Class (10/14/09)

Today in class we accomplished three things:
1. Finished the actual dissection of the owl pellet.
2. Learned how to use skulls to identify the prey found in the pellet. Students then identified the animals in their pellet.
3. We started to sort out the bones that belong to the animal that they are going to reconstruct.

There is no homework!

Tuesday Class (10/13/09)

Science Class was shorter today due to the MEAP testing. Today we finished our owl pellet dissection. Tomorrow we look forward learning how to identify the animals that we found in our pellets by doing a skull classification key.
There is no homework assigned.

Today in science we worked on our owl pellet dissection. The students did not finish this part of the lab. Remember that tomorrow students have their internet assignment due. See the post from late last week for details.

Friday Class (10/9/09)

Today in class we did a variety of things.
1. We took a quiz on symbiosis.
2. We took a look at our use of the blog and resources. Students have a small homework assignment due next Tuesday on this.
3. We introduced the next group of activities involving owl pellets.

Due Next Tuesday: Print off your own copy of a progress report from power school. (See your teacher if you are missing your password). Also, some evidence that you were on this blog.

Tuesday Class (10/6/09)

Today in science class we took a step away from the stations work and watched a video on ecology conservation. We looked at a famous biologist named Jane Goodall. Tomorrow we will finish the ecology stations and assign the homework from those stations.

Science Collection Due Date

The science collection will be due on Monday, November 2, 2009.
If you have your collection done before the due date, you are encouraged to bring it in early.

Monday Class (10/05/09)

Currently in Science Class we are in the middle of symbiosis and general ecology stations. Students are rotating through a series of stations which include:
1. Reading station on Parasitism
2. Drawing station on Mutualism.
3. Video Station on Ecology.
4. Graphing Station on Deer vs Wolf.
5. Activity Station on Commensalism
6. Bottle Biology Grading/oral test station.

Homework for this group of station will be announced on Wednesday, which is the last day of this group of stations.
