Today we will begin a set of stations that will help us understand atoms, molecules, physical change, and chemical change.

Station 1: The Periodic Table and Understanding Elements.

Station 2: Changes in Matter Lab

Station 3: Changes in Matter Graphing Station

Station 4: Construct a Molecule Lab

Station 5: 6+1 Traits (Phases of Matter)

Station 6: Properties of Matter Power Point. (The files are on the resource page!)

Tuesday Class

Today in class we were put in groups of three to collaborate on the phases of matter. The end result was each student creating a miniature poster giving proof of their understanding of the three phases of matter.
There is currently no homework assigned.

Monday Class

We begin our investigation of matter! This means it is only a matter of time before the Chemistry Magic Show!!! We will begin with a look at the three states of matter and their properties. Can you name the three states of matter???

Wednesday Class

Today in class we focused on study habits and ways to improve studying for tests. We have a test this week Friday and we all want the kids to do really well. We created note cards on topics/ideas that we have trouble understanding.

Monday Class

Today in class we finished studying the Super Croc. It was a great look into what modern paleontologists do. There is going to be a test this Friday! A review sheet can be found on the resources page.

Wednesday Class

Today in science we finished our discussions on evolution. Students had some really thoughtful questions! Tomorrow we start looking at the work of paleontologists and what their job is like!

Tuesday Class

Today in science we had classroom discussions about evolution. To guide us we used some clips from PBS' evolving ideas on evolution video clip series. A link to these can be found by clicking here. We did not use all the clips. Follow the student handout that we provided yesterday if you are watching at home.

Wednesday Class

Today in science we placed our visuals from the web quest on a giant time line that we are creating in one of our hallways. We then had a discussion about the mass extinction of dinosaurs. We also watched a movie clip on the catastrophic event that led to the that massive extinction. The only thing that is due is the creative writing assignment that was originally due for today...but we are allowing it to be turned in on Monday as well.

Monday Class

Today in science class we are beginning to take a look at the Mesozoic time period. In other words, we are looking at the age of dinosaurs. We will be using a web quest. The web quest can be found by clicking here!
The only homework assigned is the writing assignment on the Carboniferous time period that is due on Wednesday of this week.
